It's strange that so many people haven't taken the time out to take a trip somewhere they could call a vacation and I'm not talking about that stay-cation where you sit at home behind a computer and sleep in until 12am. While catching up on your sleep is important and needed you also need a vacation from your every day life at least twice a year.
3 day week ends are great and if you have no other choice will work for a short vacation however if you can get a week or two off from work and plan out a place you think you would like to go but never been to is the best, you wake up and recharge your mind like breathing in new life.
I would say plan somewhere out of the country, it could be anywhere but get away from your everyday life and let you brain learn new surroundings, vacation spots are design for this very thing it has all the similarities of home while still giving you a new experience in another country.
No it's not the same as just renting a place in a country and living exactly like they do but that would be way to much for someone who doesn't know how to deal with other cultures and it would turn out to be a very bad experience if you didn't have family and friends to take up that slack of going to the store, paying bills to name a few things so if you are looking to retire somewhere in another country, take your vacations to that place and get used of life and the language.
I know most people think tropics and while that's great it has its disadvantages like humidity, the lack of stores and creature comforts that they grow up on. A lot of people end up moving back and regretting it while someone who was per paired is living the dream just like the way they dreamed it all them years.
