Sea food variety & mushrooms - Gili T Island, Indonesia - #portraitphotography @photocontests

When the tide is out there are locals foraging the sea. From the distance you can't see what they're searching for. Curious about it me & fellow traveller asked the man what was he looking for. He explained he's collecting various species of sea food to cook some meal later on in his restaurant near by, pointing out in case we want to visit. Also throwing in cheeky comment about his restaurant offering magic mushrooms.

Gili T is a paradise island, with motorised traffic prohibited there, preferred method of transportation is by foot, bicycles or horse-drawn carriages 'cidomo'. It's popular tourist spot for snorkeling, free diving etc but also party paradise. And the last makes it for perfect drug market. Don't be surprised when buying your smoothie you'll be asked if you want some mushrooms too or when getting your snorkeling trip ticket etc.

If you want to try go for it but bear in mind that death penalty for drugs in Bali is reinstated. If you're not interested just say 'no thank you' politely with a smile and carry on with your business 😊

● Interesting book we've read while in Bali was 'Snowing in Bali' by K. Bonella about Bali nine drug dealers. It's bizzare to read and realise the cafe/restaurant or that hotel round the corner used to be a place where characters from the book were striking their drug deals. ●
