Picture Stories #257 - Final Stone Bird

in photography •  6 years ago  (edited)

While travelling, we get to encounter interesting things which makes our journeys special and memorable. And I always enjoy seeing the various kinds of sculptures or statues that represent the local culture or identity of a place. They inadvertently tend to have a certain flavor and distinct charm that makes them stand out. I had shared about two different stone birds, here and here. This is the third one from the gang of beautifully designed bird statues.

This is somewhat similar to the 2nd bird with intricate details in its design. It is definitely the favorite for me out of the three stone sculptures, it could be an Eagle but I'm not sure what bird it is.

Do you have a guess what bird this could be - a 100% upvote for the best guess with explanation!

This is like a Rajawali statue according to me, my friend.
It's almost similar to the previous post, but this stone is unique in my opinion.
And I hope my guess is correct in order to get 100% upvote from my best friend
Have a nice day @jznsamuel

This time I give up.
While many details separately resemble that of previous sculpture, the previous bird was posed in such a way that gave it menacing look. This one seems to be covering (head pushed down between shoulders), instead of boldly looking forward in search of prey, it looks up in the sky as if it was itself a potential victim of sudden aerial attack. Overall "feel" of this one tells me it might be young bird, but I'd need to see it from other angles to be sure.
One important detail that differentiates it from previous one: long tail feathers spread widely that indicate high maneuverability, a feature of many birds of prey (including eagle, but eagle would have yellow crooked beak) but also small insect catchers like swallows and swifts.
