This is a Texas Mountain Laurel in bloom. The tree is also known as the Grape Koolaid tree. It blooms during February and March in South Texas.

@lizgore don't they? I also love the bright red seeds. I want to make a necklace from them, and I am making a cleaning agent using the flowers and white vinegar. So far it is a beautiful purple, but haven't opened the jar to see if the scent is going into the vinegar as well.
