El Cuyo, Mexico

If you are a kite surfer, then you most probably know this place or you have been to already. In our case, we were exploring the north part of Yucatan in Mexico and we end up for a night in El Cuyo.

El Cuyo is a small village by the sea, ideal to disconnect from everything. There are a few permanent residents, even fewer hostels or hotels and a couple of small restaurants. You can forget about WiFi and you also don't want me to start describing our room (seriously). Just lower your expectations regarding accommodation and focus on the beautiful nature. The restaurants there close at 7 p.m. and the closest ATM to get some cash is 120 klm away so make sure you have enough money with you before getting there.

Not knowing the above mentioned, we were left with 10 dollars in our pockets after paying for our room, we were late for dinner and the only available thing was beers and chips in a small kiosk close to our room. Yeap, sh*t can happen but as my husband says, there is no problem as long as there is beer! :-D

But what I will never forget, is the beautiful palm trees, the large beach, the unbelievably white fine sand and this beautiful family of birds at the quay. Our road trip in Yucatan was one of the best travels of my life!
