Urban Jungle / Architecture Photography / 35 mm Collection 1

in photography •  7 years ago

A collection of 35mm photographs from Canada, Scotland, Barcelona and beyond. All take on my Canon AE-1 35 mm camera. Some of these have been posted previously but I wanted to create a collection for my blog as well.

I absolutely adore brutalist inspired architecture from studying the Bauhaus & De Stijl movements in university I come to full appreciate these blocky buildings and their significance in social change and working class movements.

Hope you enjoy.

These are great. Have you only ever shot film? I'm looking into maybe buying a film camera again and love the results you're getting from the Canon AE-1. Have you got any thoughts or recommendations?

So I own a DSLR, but I haven't got the right results from it as I am not a very technically knowledgeable person when it come to photography... I prefer to just point and shoot and my Canon AE-1 was perfect for that as it had a automatic light meter and gave a great effect. I have tried other manual film cameras which sometimes get good results but was very hit or miss. I am looking into researching a bit more into it... But yeah I'd recommend going for that has an inbuilt light meter or is just a point and shoot film camera unless you know what you are doing with them. My friend on here is pretty good with film cameras @cottonlazarus you should ask him about film, I'm sure he'd help you out. My Canon AE-1 has just broken after being in my family for years so I am considering moving on to a similar Pentax 35mm camera... I just haven't decided what model.

Awesome thanks for the info and I'll definitely check out @cottonlazarus. Be interested to know your thoughts on the Pentax.

I'm currently using an X-Pro2 which I absolutely love, but am trying to go from full auto to a more manual mindset, one setting at a time. The view is to then dabble in film.

Yeah your X-Pro2 stuff looks great. I'd love to have a digital camera that creates the same sort of results. Do you have any recommendations for digitals cameras on a budget that would be good for point and shoot? I currently have a Nikon D3100 and it is not good at all..

Thanks a lot. I guess it depends on the type of photography you want to focus on (pardon the pun). I'm predominantly into street photography and started out with a Ricoh GR II (which I love and still have). It's a 28mm prime lens point and shoot that's really robust and discreet so perfect for that type of shooting.

Other than that I really do recommend anything in the Fuji X-Series range. There's a fair bit of choice at different price points and they have a set of F2 weather resistant lenses that are well priced and very high quality (50mm, 35mm, 23mm).

I moved to a X-T10 which is a very capable camera but always had my eyes on the X-Pro2 and haven't looked back. The last thing I would say is that Fuji are really good at updating firmware. The camera you buy will more than likely end up having more features after a year or so as they're always trying to improve them across the current range.

I just want to be clear...I don't work for Fuji and this is not a sponsored post 😉.

Oh man after researching a bit more I really love the stuff you can get from the Ricoh GRs. I love the film ones as well... Thinking I might get one of them.. and loving the X-T10/20s. Street photography was always my favourite type of photography although I mainly shot like buildings and weird objects in the street instead of actual people.

Nice urban shots! Especially the one I saw in the Architectural Photo contest, congrats! Looking forward to future posts and pics! A big upvote and followed!

Hey thank, didn't even see I had won that until now. Love that one they featured as well.
