A couple of days off due to illness, but I figured I was feeling well enough for the next Scotland post.
After the Isle of Skye, I headed south to Oban, stopping along the way to stay a couple of nights in Fort William. From Fort William I ventured out to visit several castles in the area.
The first castle I stopped at was Inverlochy Castle. It was your basic square wall of a keep, but was pretty neat nonetheless. There were some great old trees around the castle grounds.
The next castle I stopped at was Castle Stalker, an amazing little castle on a tiny little island in the middle of a loch. I think this would be a great castle to get at different times of the day and in different weather.
After this, we found a castle off the beaten path. Kilchurn Castle was a castle that had fallen into disrepair. It was an amazing place to explore. One of its turrets had even been blown off by lightning and was sitting upside down in the middle of the courtyard.
Looking up into the missing turret.
Turret in the courtyard.
Until tomorrow, when we visit the magical, wonderful city of Oban and visit some of the western Scottish isles.
