We visited the historic site of the Battle of Culloden. It was an interactive site, where you wore a headset, and different characters would tell you their side of the story as you walked around the grounds. Very interesting, and heartbreaking that so many Scots lost their lives there. There are mass graves of many of the clans.
After that we went to Loch Ness, and stayed at the Inch (Inchnacardoch) Hotel. It was a hotel made from an old hunting lodge, and was a great experience. I felt bad about asking the bellboy to carry my luggage to the room, but was exhausted from driving. Loch Ness itself was probably the most boring part of the entire trip. The Loch was calm, and the stories told felt forced.
Next up was Eilean Donan castle, which was a very touristy castle. Lots of restoration, but a great subject for some photography. Another site I would like to revisit one day for some shots at different times of the day.
After this I headed to Portree, which will be the subject of tomorrow's post.
