The Isle of Skye

The Isle of Skye was my next destination on this journey. We hit Dunvegan Castle on our way to Portree, where we would be staying at The Cullin Hills Hotel. Dunvegan Castle is the seat of Clan MacLeod, and was interesting as the head of the clan still resides in the castle. Parts of it were open to the public for exploring and viewing clan history.

Once I got to Portree, I spent the next couple of days exploring Skye. The first place we went was to the Fairy Glen. It was a magical place full of traditions with the fair folk.

There were circles built to leave offerings for them. The tradition was to walk the spiral inward, leave your offering and make your wish, and then leave the circle walking backwards.

There was also Castle Ewen, a rock formation believed to be the castle of the fairy king.

I then stopped by Captain Fraser's Folly on the way to the Quaraings.

The Quaraings were an alien landscape that seemed welcoming at the same time. There were hiking trails throughout them, and the day we were there, a light fog covered the distance. I want to go back to do some hiking through the area for a day.

Until next time, and we make our way to Fort William.
