The starless night masked the sky. Below its shade was a bright city, with pale yellow and greyish white squares dotted over the endless sea of grey. Each solid object formed a jade cube, each jade cube formed a block, each block formed a rectangle, and these rectangles spanned the heights - challenging the sky with the might of the human civilization. Flying high, a Crow scoured the tidy and organized streets; its engines and its dark oil, its men and their dark coats. Swinging by its tree - too small to be a proper one, too large to be a bush - to land on its busy nest, it placed itself on the outer rim of the collection of branches and plastic scraps with its beak full of what appeared to be a hunk of trash. All families of all composition began their periodic meals, crows feeding their younglings, mothers feeding their children, certain men feeding their ego, and certain ladies feeding their desires.
So was how the affairs were orchestrated in the city, all except for the child who gazed over the horizon through his dirty windows, from his small, absent room. Only the lights of streetlamps and roaring engines introduced themselves into his ceiling and his walls, as he turned off his lamp to enjoy the artificial view with a glass of whisky - on rock, of course - between his long, thin fingers.
Good morning.
Ever since I was young, I've always wanted to be an author. Fun fact: I named my english name after a character from a Roald Dahl book. Being a university student, however, takes a large toll on my efforts to write page after pages of literature. My studies demand its hours.
This is also the reason why I resort to short stories and photography: it doesn't take much time, and takes the audience to the point. See it as a short movie that takes place in your mind.
In today's tour, I'll walk you through some iconic places of Chinese University of Hong Kong, alongside some close ups I think were cool.
It's near monsoon season, so the clouds are a little cloudy. The creamy skies cover the rays of sunshine, and the world disperses into the darkness of shadows.
On the rooftop of a building named Mong Man Wai is a pathway that is composed of arcs of yellow. It's a popular place for a lot of photographers. I managed to visit at the right time to get the perfect picture.
From here, we can also get the scenery of the opposite side of the river that divides CUHK and Ma On Shan. The metropolitan look gives me a bit of a Gotham vibe, but I'm having second thoughts.
CUHK started off as a union of various colleges with its own dormitories: Chung Chi College, United College, and New Asia College. Currently, there are many other colleges, but these are the oldest.
My dormitory is located in United College; walk through the road that enters the College and you will find a small waterfall that derives from the iconic water tower of United College.
Inspired from my last set of picture that utilized a fast shutter speed, I take a similar picture with the flowing streams of water.
I exit my College and go down to the more popular areas of CUHK. On my way, I take pictures of the scenery.
CUHK is also famous for its abundance of Bamboos. It is rather a disappointment that the Typhoon last year shook up a good portion of the Bamboo shoots we can find around the campus.
The picture I take of the bamboo trees would be more surreal if it were all straight, but I suppose it will do for now.
Near the University train station is a park with a fountain and a nice scenery. This is probably the most popular spot for photographers. I capture a frame of the fountain.
I walk around the gardens and encounter a bleached tree. Something about this tree gives me the chills; I helplessly snap a picture of the tree.
Perhaps it's the isolated positioning of this tree that makes it so unique.
A rather successful photo run, I think to myself.
I return back to my dormitory with my camera slipped into my bag. Remembering the occasion midway through, I pull the camera back out again and capture the flowers.
It doesn't matter whether you have a girlfriend or not; you will always have someone who loves you and will support you through your wild journeys of the sea of life.
The ocean will not always have fishes: some places will have a lot, other places will have few. It's your job to explore and find out.
Happy valentines and good hunting.

What a beautiful story up there, you sure are a great writer. Its sad though that studies need a quarter (or more?) of your time now, and you can't actively practice that which you so much love but hopefully, someday you will!!
I also do love your closing thoughts. It definitely is our jobs to explore, live, love and let live!! And yeap, we should love irrespective of the presence of that special someone in our lives, love is meant for all...
The photos sure are amazing, the view of that pathway definitely is amazing, what a great arrangement and view. Thank goodness there weren't so much crowd there to disrupt the photo.
I do love how you capture the stream of water too, it made the water pop against the dark background, giving it a really peaceful and serene feel.
The photo of the park with the fountain also looks so good, love love the view of the mountain from there.
Those flowers from the last photo is amazing too, that sure is a gem!! Happy Valentines...

The breathe of each foto (photo) alone constitutes a loving post for each of their own. To be quite honest, the fotos alone could stand up on their own. Yet I loce that yah added commentary and story like writing here, sending the reader into an ecstasy of thoughts. The fotos (photos) so crisp and the wordsmandship so fine, I like what I read and see here. But not only was I having a blast reading, I learned something explicitly new about the places around the World (and that’s more than seeing how other places look, of which I could never get to see lest I had the means of transportation to do so). So thank yah and yer post, it deserves that @curie vote.

This was an amazing composition of both writing and photography. Most of the time you see good photography with some explanation. Or you see a good story with an accompanying photograph or two. But you have managed to do a complete job of both, each complementing the other. The opening story about the clockwork of humanity was captivating. I read it twice to fully appreciate the meaning. I was a little puzzled thought about the part of the small child in his room looking out the dirty window, then enjoying the glass of whiskey.
The explanation of the pictures was right on target, giving us knowledge without over doing it.
Your closing was thought provoking as well, about how you have to look for the good things in life.
I enjoyed your post enough that I have followed you to see more of your work! And congratulations on your Curie vote, well deserved!

Thank you very much for the in-depth comment, @blueeyes8960,
I perceive literature as a medium that any and all can interpret differently.
The part with the small child with a glass of whisky came come under many different categories of interpretation, it depends on how one sees it.
Some would see a grown man who is still seen as immature (like a child), and others would see a child who was overwhelmed by his surroundings and was encouraged to drink at a young age.
There are various ways of interpretation, but it is up to the reader.
Thank you again for the nice comment :D
