I'm also new here and been trying to ask the same question myself. Well, I post things that interests me and hope somebody would appreciate it. I guess as most tenured members say it, just be yourself. :)

i can't say that this community is too much inspirational in photography terms.
not many photographers use it but mostly people who sometimes post some images with the goal to be a part of some challenge and hopefully to take a prize. but yes, i found a few very great photographers and met a few very nice people and we started to talk here and there and not only about photography. about engaging - the best way to be found and to find another ppl is to use right tags - for example i found you because i also use filmphotography tag but this one is not a steemit official tag so you can find the only 7 last day's post and no more. i hope that one day it will be included to the list of curating tags.
