we captured a ghost on our camera or ghosts?

This one is for halloween
We love to visit castles of the English countryside which have stood for 100’s of years. Some are now in ruin but they often are the most interesting ones to see. You can use your imagination to think of how these formiddable fortresses once stood and would have dominated the landscape.

On one such trip we had a ghostly encounter with the Goodrich Ghosts. Or did we? What do you think?

The castle is possibly haunted by at least three ghosts, the first is said to be that of an Irish chieftain imprisoned in the dungeons, within the belly of the 'great keep' known as Mac Beth’s Tower. Legend has it he died attempting to escape and his ghost now haunts the tower.

The second and most famous are two lovers, Alice Birch, the niece of a parliamentarian Colonel; she had fallen in love with an enemy Royalist, Charles Clifford. Whilst attempting to take refuge at the castle in 1645 it was besieged by the parliamentarians. Now the castle was under siege they became trapped, but then a fierce storm gave them the opportunity to escape. Trying to flee on horseback in the night they missed the crossing and drowned in the River Wye, which runs by the castle. To this day its been said that their screams of shock and terror can still be heard coming from the river, others have reported sightings of their ghostly bodies drowning . On the anniversary of their deaths its said they have been sighted as mournful figures walking along the battlements.

A ghostly haze is sometimes seen in the dungeons for which there is no explanation. On our trip we think we have photographed the haze; even better apparitions, or have we?

You can make your own mind up but in the series of photographs shown here, they’ve not been altered in photoshop or edited in any way. It’s not our intention to hoax, we are even skeptical ourselves! But there can be no doubting the images have captured a phenonemon there.

The dungeon had'nt been noticeably cold when we first entered, as we began to capture video footage. However the camera battery inexplicably drained of power and stopped working, the temperature dropped dramatically. At the time we didn't pay much attention because we were messing about, pretending to be chained upon the back wall for a photo and doing other daft things....as you do!
