A darker side of Holly Madsion!

in photography •  7 years ago

Good evening, Steemit! I’m sitting here, sick and sore, but surprisingly energetic and productive. Maybe because this is a cold and it’s laughable to the flu I had a few weeks ago. I didn’t get much done during the day, other than a few games of Magic: The Gathering with @vermillionfox and @iamredbar. Once we got home, though, I got @guthrie to bed and the focus came. A new edit of Holly Madison and dozens more emailed releases for “Dark Pinup” before my upcoming marathon weekend with @wcpublishing. Yeah. It’s been a good night. A Steemit post will be the icing on the busy cake and I can cough my way to sleep knowing I didn’t waste my day.

Tonight’s photography is, as mentioned, new work of New York Times best selling author, Holly Madison. I’ve been on a warpath lately […probably why I’m sick], getting edits finished for the book. I’d sent Holly a few texts of the last couple of edits I’d finished and hadn’t heard back from her. It worried me a little, but she’s busy and travels a lot. @wcpublishing called me during my last trip to the east coast and let me know we really need to finalize the remaining model releases before going to print. Holly was one of those cases, so I sent her a message through Instagram that night.

Fortunately, I did hear back from her. She sent me her new numbers and I texted her the backlog of photo edits. I didn’t want to post any of these until she’d seen them. It isn’t a requirement, but it’s how I like to do business. As of tonight, then, I have new Holly Madison photos to share with the Steemit community. All shot with a Nikon D750 with natural or available light, taken in La Cañada, CA. Hope you enjoy.

@eveuncovered thank you, darling! I feel the same way about your posts right before I go to sleep. You’ve been killing it lately and I couldn’t be happier for you! Looking forward to the day we finally shoot!

You aren't doing too bad yourself either! :) And I see you are going to pass the 3000 followers mark today, congrats!

So charming, gorgeouse beauty..she is on point

Amazing images, I'm a photographer too. Good to see such awesome work. I use also a Nikon, not as fancy as a d750, though I wish. :)

Thanks for the valuable information

Oh, so beautiful.
I really adore your photography style, natural light cannot be beat, and neither can beautiful ladies haha.
Thank you for sharing,
Hope you get better soon!

what an awesome well deserved opportunity

Great shots, Love the environment! (and, you know, the woman)

Whaaat?? How cool!!! Stunning lady & photo's !

She's lovely as always. The angle was spledid. I wanna see more of her darker side!

keep sharing more power !

Great photo and editing. You thinking about sharing some editing tutorials here on Steemit ;) ?

I do the same with my videos, the folks appearing in them get a chance to see them before the video goes live. If for some reason they do not want it published, the video never goes live and is taken down to never be seen again. It's not required, but it's a good way to keep the Camera welcome wherever I go. Good looking shots as usual, look forward to seeing more, thanks!

Always such nice images! I like the dark theme, other than what you would expect from Holly!

Beautiful work as usual. Sigma glass?

Thanks @condra. No, it's Nikkor. 35mm. I think that's a 1.8

You always doing natural light but still looks like it is planned perfectly light. I love this!!!

Thank you @vajola! That's so nice to hear. Believe me, it's not planned at all. Usually we just walk around until it "happens". You know it when you see it, and then just take pictures :P

These pics are incredible!

I forgot about her! I used to hear about her frequently back when she had that TV show on E! news! It looks like she hasn’t aged a day! Still stunning.

Absolutely stunning as always. I showed my wife your photos and asked her "what kind of light do you think he shoots with?" she said it looked like basically perfect window light. She was pretty stoked to hear you shoot with only available light, your a master of finding it :)

Thank you so much @dexter-k! Always humbled by your comments as you're one of my favorite photographers on all of Steemit. Yeah, all available light, all the time :)

Great captures. Love the touch of pink in her hair.

Yes @jfolkmann! That was a surprise when she showed up with that, by my hairstylist, Liz Garza, just did her thing and it looked amazing.

These are great. I love the location as well.

Thank you @jencoolpop!

"A Steemit post will be the icing on the busy cake,..." Busy cake, now there's an idea. Thanks so much for the inspiration - LOL

I'm now using the D750, I received it as a Christmas gift. We're both fans of the natural lighting. I do need a lot of practice on portrait photograph, however. My Dad, who is 48, often says about himself "When I grow up, I want to be that good." He's meaning that he wants to learn how to do something as good as that person. So, I am going to use that saying now. When I grow up, I want to take people pics as good as you!

@gringalicious! You're using a D750, too! That's so awesome. It's such an incredible camera. HAHA! Steemfest 3 this year, I think we need to do tradesees! You can photograph @vermillionfox, @eveuncovered or @artedellavita, and I'll photograph a busy cake! :P

Awesome shots. She did a really good job posing.

You did a great job with the lighting and framing, as to be expected.

Is that natural light with a reflector in the last?

In the first one she looks like gorgeous vampire lady with her beautiful long fingers and the look on her face. ^^

I love the mansions you shoot these. There is so much detail and the dark wood, paintings on the walls and the staircase in this one is my favorite!

Oh, yeah @m31! The mansions are just endless amounts of luck and good fortune that I've been able to shoot in so many beautiful places. Lovely thought with her as a vampire. I like having a chance to shoot Holly in such a different style.

Her shoes are like a microcosm of the stairs. Your art is always an I SPY book of serendipitous details.

I already understand why so distant and is that you are sick :(

I hope you recover very soon ;)

Thanks @yanes94! Yeah. I'm still recovering from the trip to NYC, and I have a lot to get done before the long weekend of book edits with @wcpublishing. Thanks for thinking of me!

Beautiful photos As always, Hope you get better soon!

Thanks @gvand! Yeah. I'm still feeling pretty awful.

I saw you post yesterday her pic on Sola and was waiting for you to publish the blog!!!! Yay! Love Holly! As always~ you capture everything so fabulously 💜

Thank you, @artedellavita! Yeah. I was actually worried because I've been texting her edits for months and not hearing back. I was starting to think "Oh, shit! Is she not in to these?!". She just changed her number. I'm so glad I can finally post them!

I don’t think you should ever have to worry about people not liking your work! ☺️

And she is still quite a golden goddess, even in the darkness. Wonderful work as usual, @kommienezuspadt!

Thanks @velveteendream! We really need to get you and @ghostfish out for an art night soon!

Heck yeah! I'm down for that!

woooo...me encanta este tipo de fotografia, tu modelo es fantástica, ese estilo pinup, esa foto esta como para publicidad.

Hi @edurley! Thanks so much! Almost all of what I shoot is pinup with a darker esthetic. Thanks for the comment!

Beautiful photos. Holly Madison is a beautiful model. Hope you are feeling better soon as you keep such a busy schedule.
