Dahlia by candlelight!

Good morning/afternoon for many of you. For those Steemians in the US, it’s the middle of the night. This is far later than I’m used to posting, but I didn’t sit down to start editing until almost midnight. I’m sleepy and tomorrow is going to be tough. I have to have @guthrie up for school at 8:00a.m. Great day, though. MTG with @tarotbyfergus was a great time. @mada finally emerged from his winter dwellings, and I made vegan Italian sausage pasta that @vermillionfox loved. I also received a mold for a cool blockchain project I’m working on.

Always having a backlog of work, I spend much of my day thinking about the edits I’ll get to as soon as I can find the time. One of those shoots is from this June; a client and burlesque dancer in Minneapolis named Dahlia Dulcé. I’ve known of her for years as she’s a close friend and performer with Elekra Cute […one of my friends in the Twin Cities]. Dahlia is a spicy Latina on stage and from everything I’d heard, a sweetheart in person. She reached out to me about booking a shoot and we scheduled it.

This was just a week before I left for Australia and New Zealand. It was a stressful time, but it was blissful to have some work booked in my home city. Elektra came to the shoot as well, mostly to assist, but near the end, got shoot ready and joined for this incredible collaboration. The lighting in Dahlia’s home was absolutely perfect. Overcast and moody, offset with candles. Even know, going through these images, I feel that this was a really special shoot shared by the three of us. We were all at our best that day.
