Hello dear Steemian friends! Welcome to the 14th episode of:
#OneBreathOnePhoto
As some of you may know, two of the things that I'm deeply passionate about besides travelling, is Freediving and Photography. Freediving is a practice of diving underwater without a tank or any other breathing apparatus, gliding through the watery abyss on a single breath of air with nothing but you and nature.
The challenge of photographing athletes at a freediving competition, is that you must be able to swim down, equalise, adjust settings to cater to whatever depth and condition you're in, and be able to hang down there, and wait. If you don't time the entry correctly, or don't do a proper breathe up to relax yourself before the dive, it's easy to find yourself getting caught in the stress, running out of air before the athletes start the dive. You have one shot, one opportunity, and one breath of air to make it all happen.
Here is Azam Hamid from Malaysia on his way down to reach a new National Record of -67m in Constant Weight discipline at Panglao Freediving Cup 2017.
