Dandelions, Start To Finish

in photography •  6 years ago

With all the rain we've been getting in Southern California, the dandelions are really flourishing. You see them everywhere. Come to think of it, you've seen them looking like this, the "flower head":

1/100 sec, f/5.7, ISO 250, focal length 55.0 mm

And you've seen them looking like this, the "seed head":

1/100 sec, f/5.7, ISO 160, focal length 55.0 mm

But have you ever seen them in the transition from one form to the other? Are they two different forms of the same flower, or does one turn into the other? If they are two ends of the lifecycle of the same flower, how come we never see the maturation happening...a middle form?
