Ryan Tuerck's Toyota 86 was on fire at Irwindale Speedway in Irwindale, California during qualifying for the final battle of the 2017 Formula Drift season and the final battle ever to be waged at Irwindale Speedway. His crew found a control rod on the track so its seems this was an oil fire. Thankfully, it self-extinguished and the car and driver were safe. The engine...that may be another story. Not to be outdone, there were several other spectacular flames thrown at Irwindale last night:
That's Chris Forsberg's Nissan 370Z in flames. That NOS sticker isn't just for show...his NOS tank is located just above that burning wheel! Chris put on the same smoking show with his earlier run as well.
To finish out this post, here's Vaughan Gitten, Jr losing parts of his Ford Mustang in a trail of sparks. Hopefully tonight's final battle will prove every bit as excting as qualifying was when these drivers take their final laps at Irwindale in tandem battle!
woooo
