During this last winter, I worked at a ski rental store in Zermatt, Switzerland. After being in the cold for 5 months I needed to get away to somewhere warm. I grew up in a sailing family but we had sold our boat a while ago. I had the idea to go sail somewhere this summer but just needed to find someone to sail with.
I stumbled upon a wonderful website called www.crewseekers.net, signed up and found a gig helping an English man sail around Greece for 2 months. I stopped working at the end of April and planned to meet the Skipper on his boat in Cleopatra Marina in Preveza, Greece on May 8th. I flew into Korfu from Frankfurt. I will post later about my time in Korfu.
Unfortunately I had to leave Korfu earlier because the bus from Igoumenitsa to Preveza only ran a few times a week. I left on the 8th and arrived in Preveza. I walked into Cleopatra Marina and made my way to Galadriel. The boat is a 2015 56' Bavaria Cruiser. It is a beautiful boat to say the least. It is quite new and very luxurious. The boat was still on dry dock and was heading to the water on the 10th. In total there was the skipper, his friend (British) and another volunteer from the website (Australian).
After getting everything clean and sea ready the crane came on the afternoon of the 10th. It was this massive machine all controlled by a remote. They slowly brought the boat to the water and off we were. The first night we anchored on the wall in the marina and so began my ongoing 2 month adventure on Galadriel.
Here are the workers prepping the boat for the water

Beautiful boat and area. Will look into this crewseekers website, sounds like a great way to sail (if buying a 56' isn't in reach :))
