The tunnel

Well dear steemians, I'll share with you this picture. It was taken in a "cayapa fotográfica" that took place last year in Macuto, Vargas State in Venezuela. I, in the company of other photographers, went to this activity to make a photographic record of the place as well as its most emblematic places. We visited many interesting places in there but the most interesting place was the ruins of the Miramar Hotel. This hotel was one of the most important buildings built in Macuto, Vargas state during the dictatorship of Juan Vicente Gómez (1928). Its construction consolidated Macuto as a "spa town" turning it into a holiday and tourist destination excellence of national and foreign seasoners . With a unique design, the Miramar was the first luxury beach hotel in the country, the only one with a lift brought from Paris, with swimming pool and tennis court. There, Carlos Gardel sang and stayed. Over the years and the neglect of the rulers who followed Gomez, they left the place and today is about to collapse. It is a fascinating place to take good pictures. Its gloomy, dark and lonely corridors make one to take the journey in group and with caution. I took this picture in one of the corridors. I saw the door at the end and the natural light and I thought immediately in the famous book written by Ernesto Sabato called The Tunnel.

We all walk in our own tunnel, self-absorbed, isolated, selfish, without connecting with each other. Sometimes we turn our lives into a tunnel, dark, lonely, without finding the exit, locked in our fears, anxieties, fears, trying to find that little window o door that tells us the way out. It's a space by which the human being in many occasions in his life has to go through. I think that usually, it is when we have to take decisions or we are in search of our inner peace and happiness. All of us at some point in life have gone through tunnels. We have had moments of darkness in which we think that everything is lost. However, from the darkness light is born and at the end of that hard road, light is made and we can see the road and the doors that lead us to new paths. Hope and the desire to live make us go through that channel of darkness to meet the wonder of light. It's like being born again. Crossing our tunnels is a sign of a birth in which new men and women are born and prepared to continue in the feast of life. It is up to us to continue to the end and see the light of life or stay lost in the darkness that means death.
