Game trail camera isn't capturing the critters, but did get this really neat few shots this morning! And, MORE CRITTERS!!! :(steemCreated with Sketch.

And, I didn't use Flame Painter on any of these! :)

The last two show how one minute makes such a huge difference in lighting! It's not really obvious while scrolling down, unfortunately; I had noticed it while viewing the images in "Photo Gallery" and when I went from one to the next, a strip of leaves towards the top of the picture turned a much brighter green.

One tomato was bitten, I can see the teeth marks of the upper and lower bite, but it hadn't taken a chunk out so was likely startled. That tomato plant is near both the solar-powered owl and the camera, so the owl might have hooted, or the camera might have flashed in infrared which the critter might have seen.

I also noticed a lot, I mean a lot of pepper plant leaves are missing since yesterday! None of the peppers, fortunately, but I don't want critters tearing up my plants! They get energy from the sunlight through the leaves! Take the leaves off and the peppers won't grow as quickly.

No, Mr. Bond, I Expect You To Die!

So, I've decided not to return the A24 rat trap that I mistakenly purchased -- we thought critters were getting the squash blossoms, but it was simply male blossoms fall off; only the female blossoms turn into squash. So they gave me an RMA but I haven't sent it yet, and now I think I will install it today.

I have to build a small platform for it, basically two pieces of scrap wood nailed together, and will put it in front of the camera. Probably won't post those pictures though...

Learned a new skill just now, I can make animated GIFs!

In re-reading this I wanted you to be able to see what I saw for the third and fourth pictures, so I searched for "make a gif" and found a site that does so. It has an annoying "progress bar" which wants you to buy a premium account, so I stopped watching it and came back to type this paragraph in the hopes that it'll be done when I've completed this. :)

And, I moved it to the first image. I guess that image-creation site wants you to pay to get the original image size as well. I think I'll pass...

this creatures feed from the plant. you can spread some insecticide on the tomato leaf.

No, it's mammals that are the issue, not insects. Mouse, rats, rabbits, groundhogs, chipmunks -- I'm not sure what's doing it, but the bite in that tomato showed the jaws were an inch to an inch and a half open when it bit it.

really

Yeah it's still on the vine, I will take a picture tomorrow.

Hopefully you catch those critters. Very nice tomato plants you have there!

Thanks! We just added some supports to the cages as they're all well over the cages, and two vines snapped off one of the plants and had to chop them up, and save the green tomatoes on them -- we put them in a paper bag to help them ripen.

The critters keep chewing on the tomatoes though, and those are for us to chew! :) Nothing happened overnight though. Yesterday I saw a tomato chewed and on the ground in the afternoon -- and it had been on the vine when I watered that morning! So they're brazen, they're out during the day.

Maybe the traps I set yesterday (which weren't activated when I watered this morning) will be triggered sometime during the day today? We'll see...

it's too bad that critters eat the leaves and yes they get energy from the sunlight through the leaves!, why not you buy a water scarecrow, a device when it detects motion, squirts the source of that motion with a stream of water it might also helpful to get rid of those critters. yes animated gif is also looks so attractive and beautiful.

Thanks that's a great idea! Looked one up and might just try one. Put traps out yesterday, none triggered, and no new damage on the tomatoes. The solar-powered owl was hooting the entire time I was watering, as it's quite windy and the tomatoes are in front of it, waving at it. :) So the owl might have kept the critters away, if it kept that up all night. It's an adventure! :)

Nice post and photos. Upvoted.

Critters. They must be very destructive to plants right?

Yeah I don't know if we'll get any eggplants this year. We put four starters in, looking great, and in two consecutive days they were ravaged, and then torn apart. One is now over two feet, and the other three are still struggling to rise up. There are flowers on all four, but it's starting to get cold, I don't know if there's enough time.

Saw a squirrel carrying a black walnut seed as I walked out to the garden; the tree is in the neighbor's yard, they like to collect them -- they "planted" one by our back steps! :) I don't think it's squirrels in the garden, though. It bothers me that the game trail camera isn't seeing any of them though!

Sorry about that. I hope you get it sorted out.

it looks really great :D

Its a constant battle with those critters and even trying to document them! They are very stealth just like navy seals in and out with their prize. At least you solved the blossom question!

Yes, exactly! We're planning to fry some of them up soon, now that we know what's going on. :)

Cool!

which system when we rarely look outside then we will be left behind to the era of technology and sophistication that is so fast process like what you would do great
