22 Iconic Portraits - Why I Photograph People

Some of my most iconic images of people from around the world

I didn't consider being a photographer until I started traveling extensively around 2010. Since then I have been compelled to shoot the people I find interesting. I think the photos speak for themselves. But I'll write a line below each photo.

One of my most iconic images: Paolo Escobar, the nephew of Pablo Escobar. I asked him to fly through the air like superman...bugs were attracted to my light, so you can see them. Shot with a 28" Softbox.

Susana is an actress in Bogota, Colombia. She had gained some weight and wasn't working at this time, but she asked me take some sexy images for her boyfriend.

War hero, Oscar Ramirez. Old dudes with beards are easy to shoot. And they know it, they are all posers.

Shot for Blackrapid, I met this homeless guy in Seattle. He agreed to a shoot. See! Another old dude with a beard. Classic!

Another bearded dude, Knut Bell. He's an alt country musician based out of Washington. Great guy and we had fun shooting him in his kung fu attire.

On the opposite side of the planet we see a bearded dude slurping down some noodles. Hong Kong.

My friend, Jason, with his Italian shotgun in Indio, California. I had a big light setup for this one.

I shot the Atari's just before they went on stage. Random, yet characters.

I loaded up my passport with stamps. I had to get additional pages I filled it up so much.

I met this girl at a trailer park while location hunting. She was down for an impromptu shoot.

This guy was hanging in a hammock along the banks of the Amazon river. 28" soft box lit him up.

Babe with parrot. She's actually a good friend who likes to model on the side.

This guy extorted money from me in Panama. Then I asked him for a photo since he scammed $50 out of me. Prick.

We will end this portrait of character with the medicine man in Santa Marta, Colombia.
