Since it was a long weekend for us (Monday was a special public holiday), my mum dragged me along to the Armenian Park at Penang to take photos of the lantern decorations over there. Normally, the park is just a simple small tiny little park without much attractions, but for the time being it's the centre for the mid-autumn festival events in Penang :) with that being said, there are of course a lot of decorations for the event!
Originally I thought that it would be weird to visit the place during the day (since generally speaking lanterns are meant to be lit up during the night and that's when most people visit the place as well), but apparently it looks pretty during the day as well!
Some lanterns hanging across the trees surrounding the park,
In the dark, lanterns are lit up for light and are dimly colourful in the air. In the sun, the take the sunlight to be brightly colourful! Apparently it isn't that strange to enjoy the view of lanterns under the sun after all :)
They look like balloons in some ways...I guess it's because they look really round from this view angle and the thin lines which are their frames aren't that visible under strong sunlight. But it still looks good in overall!
Here's a bokeh shot focusing on the decorations around the paths there. They are artificial flowers, but honestly speaking it is very hard to get flowers like these surviving for weeks in Malaysia without very intense care so it's totally justified :)
The mid-autumn festival is quite a big thing for Chinese people around Penang, so it's always a big event like this! I sure hope that I can be there at night to see them being lit up, but I think this is good as well :)
Enjoy the festival, if you aren't, enjoy the full moon!

Thank you! And I don't think I'll get the chance to visit the place at night this time...no one's free for another Penang trip :P I should've reminded my mum to turn back to the place again after we had dinner that night, but I didn't...it's okay, there will be another one in the future!
Ah, right, enjoy the full moon too! I'm hoping that the haze here isn't going to hurt the view much...

Oh, it is a nice decoration. I guess it will look awesome under the right light conditions. And it's not that hard to make but it could bring a lot of joy to kids and adults alike.
