Acapulco Adventures: Surrounded by Volkswagon Bugs!

in photography •  7 years ago

One of our favorite things about this city is the number of Volkswagon bugs on the road still. When we went to Walmart recently, John decided to snap a few of every one he saw just to show how many are around us at any one time. Technically speaking, I'm the legal owner of a bug. So we like them.

When I was a kid my Dad took me to car shows and I was honestly bored at them except for when I saw the bugs. I always liked them partially because nice ones were rare where I grew up.

My dad always said he'd restore one for me but that never happened. Soon with any luck I'll be driving a restored electrified one.

I think they were built in Mexico long after production stopped elsewhere. I think the last were build in 2003.

You're right on that.

This car has endured the test of time. Even World War II doesn't stop it from becoming the most popular and the most number of manufactured car in the world. You can still see a running VW today.

Mexico loves VW

There's a lot of them also here in the Philippines.

Hahah love it, reminds me of the time we played punchbug on a long trip

You'd have a sore arm here.

Lets just say she wasn’t so thrilled at the end of the trip

Great cars. Had one myself years ago. Thanks for the photos

i always liked the VW Beetle. I had a friend who had a bright yellow one about 1975. it could get in places that other cars could not. I also think of Herbie the Love Bug! Great memories! Thanks for sharing!

Herbie is in my memories too.

I always loved these cars after seeing the car in 'Herbie', did you see amy with numbers on the sides?

We've seen a herbie

Love it

Wow thats a lot in one car park. Quite a few in the UK but they are rapidly disappearing.
