Crazy Puppy Play Time Photo Shoot and Story

in photography •  7 years ago  (edited)

I took these several weeks ago of the puppies when John suggested we take them outside to play together. It proved to be an interesting challenge because these two puppies are completely different in demeanor despite being from the same litter and having been raised together. Bane, the black one, is super calm and prefers licking to biting wheras the red one is his sister, super feisty to the point where Bane has a bald spot on his shoulder from where she bit him.

She's the time of dog the greets with a growl and a bite which makes me think she's what our rescue Tequila was like as a puppy. As an adult, Tequila is saucy and is known for the snarl and snap back. The bite is generally to the air to scare but both I and @modprobe have been bitten by her for approaching her wrong.

But it's not to say she's not sweet because the bites are always light, there's more growl than anything. Like Tequila she likes to just appear and sound scary, not actually be scary.

When I take them out to play it's almost always separate because they're so different. Tiger likes to run around all crazy bouncing off of boulders and her brother likes to just walk around and smell stuff, climbing boulders here and there.

So when they play outside together they've got totally different agendas. Bane was confused and kept trying to run back into the house; Tiger nearly ran off the property repeatedly.

They're little demons at times but they're only bad in the ways all puppies are bad, bathroom accidents in the house and lack of training as they're (like most dogs) resistant to being told what to do and when to do it. They prefer to tell me what to do.

It's been a long and hard (I have no idea how many at this point...) several months but I've learned a lot and one thing I've learned is puppies are a lot of work if you want them to turn out like anything worth living with. I am reminded and humbled by how much time and effort we put into Rebel and how mischievous and puppy-like he is now even though he's two years old.

Things I learned from this photo shoot? Don't bother with them both outside at the same time, EVEN with help as I had John to help me chase em around.

Well they say opposites attract so that explains the cuddling in the earlier post. as for the biting been there. Often the male absorbs the bite from the female in life just to be with her. LOL John may agree or disagree but that has been my experience. It is nice to see the two friends outside. Thanks for the post.

you have been watching your dog all day. and I am very detailed when reading it. it really has become a beautiful daily story. i like your post. i always follow you. by, @boyasyie
