LSCOTTPHOTOS PhotoPoll #12 - What is your dream camera / camera equipment?

in photography •  8 years ago  (edited)

The mark of a truly talented photographer is the ability to take fantastic photographs no matter what camera they use. I've seen people with creative eyes and wild imaginations create works of art while using mediocre cell phones!
But a great camera and lens can do wonders... When I made the switch from a point-and-shoot to my DSLR, I never looked back. This brings us to our twelfth question of the PhotoPoll...

What is your dream camera / camera equipment?

I am biased towards Canon equipment since I use a Canon Eos Rebel T3 with both an 18mm-55mm and a 55mm-250mm lens. My aunt, however, just purchased one hell of a lens that knocked my socks off last time I saw her. So I will be searching the market for a new telephoto lens once I get a little more financially stable.

However, with the endless amount of possibilities, amateurs (heck, even professionals) can get overwhelmed! So if any of you have a personal preference, I'm all ears!

So what's on your dream list? If money was no object, what would you pounce on?!

Thinking about this list makes me feel good, even though I will never have the money to buy it :)

My dream compact camera: Sony RX1R II, compact camera with full frame 42.4 megapixel sensor.

My dream camera for landscapes: Sony α7R II

My dream lenses for landscapes: Canon 17mm tilt-shift, Canon 24mm-tilt shift (with a metabones adaptor to use them on the Sony α7R II)

My dream drone for aerial photography: DJI Inspire 1 Pro

Sony a7R2 with a few different Zeiss lenses would be first on my shopping list too!

I own a 550D (Rebel T2i). I'd have to say my dream camera would have to be weather sealed. I am plenty satisfied with my lenses, particularly the primes I own; Super Carenar (35 mm and 135 mm 2.8), Fujinon (55 mm 2.2), and the Sigma Art (50 mm). What I would like to have is a decent long (X-300mm) zoom with a fixed aperture, or a good fast 400 mm prime. I could throw away my kit lenses (but not the 10-18, it's cool), which I probably wouldn't do anyway, I'm just posturing. Maybe I'd give them to my son.

Touch screen would be good, pinch to zoom, tap to freely choose focus point...

If I could ask for a better OS/GUI for my camera, I would go for SailfishOS 1.0 GUI. It's simply the best and most intuitive I've used to the day. 2.0 not so much, but it would do too.

I like the features in Magic Lantern, so if they could be all put on top of the OS, that would be great.

Oh, and a second off camera flash. Backpack for the equipment, a camo tent with a camera window, and a good pair of shoes. Then I'd be a happy man. :)

(Postedit: The Fujinon 55 is a bit broken but works, it also can't change aperture on my DSLR. Kit lenses are Canon EFS 18-55 and Canon EF 75-300)

Nikon 3200

I have owned many cameras, in many film and sensor formats, I am not showing a list because its length would make me feel old 8-), but after some time I decided that my favourite camera would have to be one I can carry around at all times. I chose the Olympus Stylus 1s, and it is serving me well.
For sheer optical quality in macro photography I would go for the slightly exotic Nikon 200mm f4 ED-IF AF Micro lens with any Nikon body.

I'm a newbie relative to some of the great photographers here on @steemit, so l'm currently just looking to upgrade to a better point-and-shoot. I have a Canon SD1400 IS and I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on the new Sony DSC RX100 Mark V.

Not sure I'm ready for a DSLR, and also not sure I'd be as likely to carry it as often. Maybe someday!

That 24 frames per second is insane!

I'm guessing that 24 fps is a theoretical upper limit, but I'd be happy with 10 ;-)

I'm very happy with my D7200 but I want to try a full frame DSLR. Everybody says "it's not worth it" if it's not your fulltime job. So my dream is a D5 or a D810 with some zeiss lenses (one wide-angle, one macro and one for portraits (~85mm)).
