Scops owl,
Distributed in Europe lives an inconspicuous bird, a fist-sized owl named Otus scops.
In a university project 2017 I have to create a short film about this owl.
The bird is one of the rarest breeding birds in Austria. There are probably 70-90 breeding pairs in Austria.
But I got one in front of my lens!
Of course I also took some pictures.
The animals are incredibly difficult to find due to their size and color. Above all, they eat large insects between loose stands of trees such as orchards. The cultural landscape with insect-rich meadows is an important part of their habitat.
Here is the result of my work:
The last words mean translated in English:
The fruit tree shown in Burgenland offer the owl ideal breeding and feeding grounds.
The preservation of these insect rich meadows as well as the tree population is necessary for the Scops owl.
