How to Shoot like a Professional in Studio with one light

in photography •  8 years ago

You want to do studio portraits or fashion photography with one light
and you photos will look like you are a pro?

You can! It'w easy and not expensive
You 'll need a white backdrop
1 light source
1 parabolic umbrella or an octabox
and your camera

How i shot these photos:

Iso 100
F8
1/200
85mm

i placed my model 8-10ft far for the white backdrop to get this gray
tone
and the light source right above her head looking straight down
At first i tried with my 7ft octabank but it was to heavy to get still by
the small light stand and it went down, so i placed my 7ft parabolic black/white)
umbrella and got the job done, the umbrella was standing right in front and abe her
Here is an example how i placed it,
this photo is not mine

For these 2 shots i had the same settings but the model closer to the backdrop

This is how i got that looking
it is very easy and you can give it a try

Ευχαριστω @metalex

wow amazing photography you and cool

Wow, what an interesting post. I've never really seen behind the scenes of this kind of photography. Did you actually use film as the settings suggest or is the iso just a digital setting?

Regardless I don't have a film camera any more and certainly don't have that kind of light to play around with but I did enjoy reading about it and the photo's look really stylish and clear. I'm not one for nose rings but the model is very attractive and I think you brought out her best. Good luck with future posts, I'll follow you to see more

amazing photo, really cool @manthostsakirid

Beautiful. My personal favourite 1 light setup is to use a beauty dish - you have to be careful as the light is a bit harsher than an octobox but it works well will the right kind of model.

These pictures are incredible! And your model is gorgeous. It's really impressive that this was all done with one light, too. My best friend uses a detachable flash to bounce light off the walls when she photographs me and it's so interesting to see how light works. And that white tile floor you have seems to be an incredible reflector.
And I love how you kept the model's skin texture still visible. It's so easy to airbrush it out completely to the point of looking plastic. Fantastic work :)
