Yesterday I write about the Citypart of Gorica in Berat. Now I will write about Kalaja. Kalaja means Castle in English. This Part is on the other side of the river from Gorcia on a hill and the emblem of the city. Inside of the walls in the castle district there are a lot of stone houses with small alleys, churches and ruins. There are also a roman cistern which were used till the 19. century and a Onufri-Museum in a church. Onufri is a well-known orthodox Iconpainting in the byzantine Empire.
When you go the official road to the castle you have to pay 100 Lekë. But when you came from the Citypart Mangalem, which I will report next blog, there is a path to another Gate. There you have nothing to pay.
