The M42.

in photography •  7 years ago  (edited)

Since I was provoked by @brumest ;) - m42 photo :)...

Most of nowadays photographers pay hundreds and thousands of euro/dollar or whatever they have for new lenses - more and more perfect. New synthetic elements, perfect glass combination, super hipper extra layers.... and for what? If you have the perfect camera with a perfect lens - where is the art of creating something extraordinary? If everyone will have perfect equipment - every photo will be technically perfect and... boring. The art, the soul of photography hides in those imperfections. Those small things that make magic. And if you can force them to follow your idea, if you know how to make them work for you... the world is yours.

For those who don't know what is m42 - its an old lens system used from 1949 till '70. Simple screw thread - nothing else.

your welcome:)

Uuuu, that just simply obliterated my bokeh attempt from this morning.
Gorgeous!

;)

Very nice photograph. I agree with your ethos. It is about the idea, passion, subject and execution. Many people have all the gear and well...no idea

haha yep :) I saw it many times. Equipment worth thousands and totally no idea and knowledge what they are doing.

She is magnificent !
I completely agree with you,
today photographers are looking for perfection, their photos are sometimes so retouched that it is not natural.
We want the photo to look alive, to make us feel emotion.

exactly :)

#bokeh

:)

i have one of those lenseses and i absolutely love it, the lack of autofus i killing me but the bokhe of that lens is so unique

hahha treat the lack of autofocus as a blessing of possibilities ;) - the lens will do exactly what you want. Not what AF wants :)

Liked, followed and resteemed! hope you can get some more follower :) @finkistinger

hope so too :) thanks ;)

I completely completely agree.

What an interesting effect it has. I like. Very surreal.

Beautiful shot! I love the look and feel of the old lenses. I've got a Pentax ME Super back in Canada with the SMC 15mm f3.5 M42 on it. It's an incredible lens to play around with.
