There's lots of large art in the international terminal at SFO, which is also used by Sun Country and a couple other domestic airlines. This installation is "Salty Peanuts", created in 2000 by Mildred Howard. The music is the Dizzy Gillespie's "Salt Peanuts". As a (mostly former) saxophone player I always feel a little taken aback; what did those poor saxophones do to deserve to be nailed to the wall?
On the other end of my flight I caught a nice view of the Vikings practice facility and the surrounding construction of more buildings for the Wilf empire. The people who feel taken aback in this case are the neighbors to the north (across the freeway, above the facility in my photo.) They were annoyed at the 24-hour lights on the facility, when all they had to deal with previously was an interstate highway. The Vikings have agreed to tone things down during the night.
Strange to nail sax to the wall since Dizzy Gillespie played trumpet.
