The Mouth Of Tammerkoski Rapid

in photography •  6 years ago  (edited)

I took a walk this evening around the mouth of Tammerkoski rapid. Some details and sceneries from along the way.

This eagle symbolizes the Russian Emperor Alexander II who was the first Russian monarch to rule Finland as a Grand Duchy in the Russian Empire.

I followed a path that turned up and to the west to one end of the bridges.

There is a railway bridge over the rapid along the former bypass road bridge now used be pedestrians. I used the long lens which is why I really wasn't that close to the railway.

The eastern shore of the rapid is under development.

This channel is part of the new district of Ranta-Tampella.

A few hundred meters to the south there is a pedestrian bridge over the rapid. The water is directed to the turbines under one of these buildings right now.

Usually, there is no water. In the spring, excess water from the lake is allowed to flow here. I wonder how old that tree on the left is?

The pedestrian bridge

This is called Finlayson's Palace.

This is the railway bridge from the south. Ranta-Tampella is on the right.

The circle is now complete. Back to the car.
