View Over Tampere From Hotel Torni

in photography •  6 years ago

I took a little longer lunch break than usual and took photos from Hotel Torni you saw a glimpse of in the previous post. The hotel is a 25-story building on the opposite side of the tracks from the railway station. There is nothing as tall in the very centre of Tampere, and unfortunately, I had to shoot through glass. I very much enjoyed looking at my real hometown from a height of 88 m from street level.

Hotel Torni. I went to the bar at the 25th floor.

It's built as an extention to an old railway depot.

Dark colors in concrete buildings have been fashionable in the 2010's.

A view to the north. The lake is called Näsijärvi. It is the main lake of the region of Pirkanmaa. It's northernmost tip is about 45 km away. The entire lake system extends about 100 km. The railway will be covered with a concrete deck and there will be more of the kind of very pricey condos like on the right hand side. There is a spa at the lakefront straight ahead. It's in an old factory building.

The university hospital is in the east.

Näsinneula observation tower. It's about 160 m tall. Särkänniemi fun fair to the left of it at the lakefront. Those buildings made out of red bricks are old factory buildings by the rapid Tammerkoski. They house offices, shopping centres and such these days.

A certain well-known Steemian likes to shoot photos at the boat harbour on the other side of the lake.

Lake Pyhäjärvi in the southwest. The cape is called Hatanpää. There is a city hospital and an arboretum on the cape.

I took this at ground level. This is the Orthodox church of Tampere.

Nice ones markku. Extended lunches are great.

That's very true! The light was challenging as the bright midday sun would cause some surfaces to be completely overexposed while others would be very dark. I had to employ Darktable sorcery again.

Wonderful pictures and insight.
Would you consider reading memo I have sent you and giving me a reply, please?
