Hello There,
This is how I shot the stars.
Set manual mode on your camera (M).
Set exposure to 30 seconds and ISO to 2000.
Take few pictures, tweak settings.
That's it, no special astro shooting gear required.

Update: to find a Dark place for your photo take a look at the light pollution map:

Where are you located that you can see so many stars? I live in a major city and I don't think I'd be able to get anything close to anything like that haha

Hello, yes this is one of the points I forgot to mention. I should edit the post. For such shots you need to go at least 20 Kilometers away from big cities. Light pollution map is very usefull:
