anwali-Kanthan a high altitude meadows, situated on the south-western ridge of Kedarnath region in Uttaranchal state. There are two ways to approach this Bugyals (Meadows), the one can be took begins at Triyuginarayan, the temple town marking a spot where Lord Shiva is said to have solmnised his wedding with Parvati. The other route begins from Ghuttu in Tehri or Mala in Uttarkashi district.

Can be approached by trek either from Guttu (Tehri) or from Trijuginaryana (both road head). Almost equal distance trek say 18 km from both places

Bugyal in the local language means “High Altitude Meadow”. Dayara Bugyal is one of the most beautiful places in Uttaranchal.Situated at an elevation ranging from 10,000-12,000 ft. This vast meadow is second to none in natural beauty in Uttaranchal. During winter it provides excellent & one of the best ski slopes in India spread over an area of 28 sqkms.

The view of Himalayas from here is breathtaking. There is a small lake (Barnala Tal) in the area, and to camp by its side is a memorable event.
The road to Dayara Bugyal branches off near Bhatwari a place on Uttarkashi Gangaotri road about 28kms. from Uttarkashi. Vehicles can go up to the village of Barsu from where one has to trek a distance of about 8kms to reach Dayara and other is via village Raithal, 10kms from Bhatwari from where one has to trek about 6kms to Dayara Bugya

Panwali Kanta Trek Itinerary:

Day 01 : RISHIKESH :
Arrive Rishikesh and transfer to Hotel. After dinner meet the crew and the trip leader, which will be followed by briefing on the trek. Meals and overnight hotel.

Day 02 : RISHIKESH / GHUTTU (DRIVE: 5-6 Hrs.) :
Morning we drive to Ghuttu , a small Garhwali village and starting point of the trek. Enroute lunch. We try to explore . Meals and overnight camp.

Day 03 : GHUTTU / PANWALI KANTHA (TREK : 6-7 Hrs.) :
Morning after breakfast we start for Panwali. The trek today is very steep. About nine kilometers of steep ascent takes us to Panwali. Arrive and camp in the meadow near a stream, as the entire meadow is full of crystal clear springs. Meals and overnight camp.

Day 04 : PANWALI KANTHA / MAGGUCHATTI (TREK : 4-5 Hrs) :
Morning after breakfast we start descending towards Magguchatti . The entire trek is on rocky terrain and is strenuous. Arrive Magguchatti and camp. Meals and overnight camp.

Day 05 : MAGGUCHATTI / GAURIKUND :
Early morning after breakfast trek to Trijugi Narayan, a legendry village where Shiva & Parvati were wedded. Arrive and visit the temple. After exploring the village we trek to Gaurikund. Today we camp little before Gurikund, near the river. Meals and overnight camp.

Day 06 : GOURIKUND / KEDARNATH (TREK: 5-6 Hrs) :
Morning we visit the Gaurikund temple and the hot springs. After words we proceed for Kedarnath. The entire trek is gradual ascent till we reach Kedarnath. Arrive Kedarnath & camp. Meals and overnight camp.

Day 07 : KEDARNATH : Day free to visit the temple and explore the area. Meals and overnight camp.

Day 08 : KEDARNATH / GAURIKUND (TREK 5-6 Hrs) :
Return trek. Arrive Gaurikund and have a refreshing dip in the hot spring pool. Meals and overnight camp.

Day 09 : GAURIKUND / RISHIKESH (DRIVE: 8-9 Hrs) :
Morning after breakfast we drive down to Rishikesh. Arrive Rishikesh and transfer to Hotel for meals and overnight stay.

Day 10 : RISHIKESH/ OUT :
Morning after breakfast proceed for onward destination.

Panwali Kathna Shor version Trek ;
Day 1: Drive from Dehradun to Ghuttu (230 km), Trek to Gaumanda (2134 m)
Trekking Distance: 4 km; Altitude Gain: 610 m. A long drive along scenic roads from Dehradun will bring you to the small village of Ghuttu, 1524 above sea level. The trek to Gaumanda is easy and there are summer shelters along the way. All around the eyes are treated to the glorious red of rhododendrons. The campsite at Gaumanda is on a flat piece of land surrounded by dense oak forests. Overnight in tents.
Day 2: Trek to Panwali Kantha
Day 3: Trek to Gaumanda
