So, if you read my last blog (https://steemit.com/travel/@melonsonamission/how-not-to-find-a-job-abroad) you will know that:
- I live in Siem Reap, Cambodia
- I have been here previously and
- I work at an Italian restaurant called Il Forno
I have been doing travel photography and videography for a while now, but; I was only doing this semi-seriously (I wanted to earn money from these things but hadn't so far). I got this paid photography job because ( as random as it may seem) when i went to look for a job i brought my camera with me to Vlog the process of finding a job when your'e broke AF! Because of this, it meant when i went for my initial meeting with my now employer, he asked me about taking photos for the restaurant. Obviously i said yes as it will look great for my portfolio and more fun than my normal job (I mean, its better than standing on pubstreet for 3 1/2 hours with a menu!) but also because I knew it would help me gain experience as a photographer. This means that some days that i am supposed to be holding a menu, I instead will be in the restaurant taking photos while the customers dine. It may sound like an easy job but let me tell you this, when you have Dreads and a staff uniform on you stick out like a sore thumb!
Here are a couple of the pictures i really liked of the session:
My beautiful girlfriend Madi A.K.A @flyawayflori
A very friendly Japanese woman tucking into some incredibly tasty Italian food!
A georgus cheese platter and white wine and garlic flat bread. Absolutely fantastic!!!!
I feel i have learned alot from this experience of working in a tourist hub in south east Asia. It has helped me understand what makes me happy, annoyed and how to conduct yourself in the present moment rather than in the past or future. one must constantly adapt while traveling, other wise, what is the point?
