Macro of Eve´s Needle Cactus - Amazing Cactus Flower That Looks Like a Rose !

Its common name is Eve´s Needle Cactus ... and is actually one of the most dangerous cacti in the world. I have many in my backyard which all started when I picked one of the stems being cleaned-up by the town gardeners from the streets of Torrox in Andalucia (Southern Spain). I thought of trying it out to see whether it will grow not being watered for a long period of time.

Austrocylindropuntia subulata is said to have originated in the peruvian Andes region and spread throughout Bolivia and Argentina.. It´s one of the favorites of cactus gardeners and has caught the attention of cactus lovers in the subtropic regions in Europe...

Its real danger is its needle that could grow 8 centimeters long.. it could even pinch SUV tires and the moment you´re pricked , pray you won´t have inflammation. The thorns are about 8 centimeters long and have grayish or cream to white color.

But its flowers are really so pretty and so beautiful! In this post, I took macros of the flower and could tell it has all the similarities to a rose, just have a look at the images here!

This was once considered as an endangered specie, but this issue had been reversed because they easily multiply especially in arid areas . This is also very effective to use as fencing as culprits stay away from properties after seeing its all over. They better watch out because one prick is very very painful!
