Last week, Belinda and I got back from our Carnival Cruise to Cozumel & Progreso Mexico. I'm finally getting around to uploading the story and the photos. Enjoy!!!
First off, this cruise was FREE. We got this 5 day cruise as a reward for sitting through a 1 hour timeshare presentation from Blue Green vacations. All in all this worked out very well. We did not buy a timeshare and they did honor the agreement. A word of warning to anyone trying to get a free cruise through a timeshare presentation... They will try to upsell you a cruise. The "Free" cruise will be bottom of the basement room type. You'll have to use "their" cruise agent. That cruise agent will try in every way to convince you to upgrade your room. Keep in mind, if you do upgrade then you've just kissed your free cruise goodbye. Because based on their upgraded room pricing, the price will have shot up to a place that you could have booked the cruise on your own through carnival.com.
I may do another STEEM post to give some pointers on how navigate the timeshare deals. Comment if you'd like that.
This cruise was the Canival Valor ship. It's one of their older ones, but still very well kept up. I think it's been remodeled. But we were very happy with the quality of the ship.
We were told that the only option for the "free" cruise was inward facing room, with no windows. However by some miracle, we did get a window! Two of them actually!!!
And as for bedding, we were warned we'd have to sleep in two beds. Not to worry, we'll make the most of it!
We visited the Art Auction and wondered about the sales pitch from the hosts. Are these pieces of artwork going to be worth anything?
At the first chance of dancing, Belinda was right on it! This was a little class they had for a ladies only dance!
First port of call was Cozumel where we had a relaxing massage and visited a resort.
Then it was off to Progreso where we took a bus to visit the Pyramids of Dzilbilchaltun and then a visit to Mérida for lunch.
The dining on these ships are amazing! Every night we had a sit down meal 3 course meal. We tried to avoid the buffet each night, just so we'd be hungry for the gourmet food being served in the dining room.
In summary we had a great time and are looking forward to our next vacation!
