Our galaxy Milky Way

in photography •  6 years ago

Last night at about 00:30 my friend and I went outside of our village so I can take photo of this beautiful spiral galaxy, our galaxy, Milky Way. This photo was taken in the fields that surrounds our tiny village. Of course, there is still a lot of light pollution but yet smaller amount so you can see clearer core of our galaxy. This one was taken with wider focal length just to have something interesting in foreground that will bring this photo come alive.

This second one was taken with tighter focal length of 50mm with 50 exposures at 6 seconds just so I can make much cleaner photo at the end and show you much more details of our galaxy, you can even see nebulae with pink tint and clusters that surrounds this area.

I hope you liked it as much as I enjoyed taking these photos. Have a nice Sunday! :)

Thanks, nice photos.

Thank you! :)

Nice shots.

with 50 exposures at 6 seconds

Why 50 exposures? I have used multiple exposures for startrails, but not for this kind of photos, how did you align he photos? (the movement I see in the photo is less than what I expect from 50x6s expousre at 50mm. am I right?)

There is something called image averageing or stacking for better overall noise reduction. I took this photo at 6400 ISO on my Canon 600D which is overkill but when you average 50 photos and use median alignment you will get almost noise free image with a lot of details. When I was taking, for example, Orion Nebula just by using lens, tripod and camera, I had to use around 500 exposures to get nice results at the end. :)There are software for this, it's called Sequator and it's completely free.
