Ciao a tutti,
Hello everyone,
I began a Photo Journey through Italy. I will post one photo every day with a little note of explanation. I hope you like it!
Agazzano is a town in the province of Piacenza, in the Northern Italian region of Emilia Romagna. It is mainly known for his Fortified complex, example of both medieval austerity and renaissance elegance.
Agazzano stronghold is the home of the most importat hamlet of the valley, famous for beautiful hill landscapes and gastronomic products.
Its construction began at the beginning of 1200, ordered by Giovanni Scoto, that chose Agazzano as the centre of his several properties.
His son Alberto, that completed the constructing process, was the first Lord of Piacenza city and an important political man in Milan. At the end of 1400, Scotti family welcomed Aloisia Gonzaga in their family, a woman of great will and talent, that wanted the realization of the beautiful loggia, that is still accessible. Around mid 1700, the dinasty of Anguissola Scotti started, thanks to Margherita and Girolamo Anguissola wedding.
The current owner is Prince Corrado Gonzaga del Vodice, son of Princesse Luisa Anguissola Scotti. After five centuries, as a destiny game, a Gonzaga possesses this rich and historical place again.
It has a rectangular plan and low, square and round towers. Its separated by means of a wide ditch, now used as a garden, from the residential palace, adapted at the end of the 18th century to the remains of the ancient borough. Inside the palace, beautiful pictorial decorations and precious frescoes are preserved. The inner ward is surrounded on three sides by an airy 15th century sandstone loggia.
Thing to see: the Fortress, the Castle, the pictorial decorations and precious frescoes, the Ancient cellars, the French garden.

These fort and palaces are the memories of old emprors. That time architecture was very talent.they were used heavy rocks for making buildings without lifting a crane.

Very nice castle. When I lived in England, I traveled 3 hours one way to visit one castle, a spontaneous journey. Such buildings have been standing for hundreds of years, and some houses are deteriorating after 50 years.
