We cannot deny that Greece has the best beaches in Europe. Every island has its own identity and some of them are very famous for their amazing beaches such as Crete, Naxos, Paros, Ios, Milos, Mykonos, and Rhodes.

This is my personal selection of the 10 best beaches in Greece:

1) Elafonisi,Crete Island is for Everyone

There isn’t much else nearby besides a few small hotels so most people do a day trip from Chania. Its a great beach for anyone to visit and enjoy the feeling of freedom.

2) Plaka, Naxos is for Relaxation

Naxos Island has some amazing beaches and if you’re looking for an island with a large variety of beaches it should be at the top of your list. Some of them are Agia Anna, Agios Prokopios, Mikri Vigla, Pyrgaki – and in my personal opinion, Plaka beach

3) Myrtos Beach, Kefalonia is great for family

A great place to be and enjoy the sand and sea. Tends to be crowdy during August and you definately need a rental car.

4) Sarakiniko, Mylos is a Great Experience for all

Very weird place to swim, seems like you are in another planet, but a great experience. If it has a lot of wind, then you should be carefull in there.

5) St. Paul’s, Rhodes has amazing Beauty

A great little swimming spot near the castle at Lindos. The east coast of Rhodes is loaded with great beaches (including Faliraki and Lindos), but anything west of Rhodes Town will be very windy

6) Faraga, Paros is for Swimming

It is located in the south (protected from the meltemi winds) and away from the main towns. You can stay in Parikia and make a day-trip to the beaches on the east and south coast.

7) Mylopotas, Ios has Great sand

Wonderful sand and a quick drop-off for people who like to swim

8) Perissa, Santorini has crystal Clear water

The nicest beach and sand on Santorini. Nearby Kamari beach is almost as good but has more restaurants and nightlife

9) Shipwreck Beach, Zakynthos

Accessible only by small boats that can take you there on daily basis. By hiring an operator you can even explore some caves. This beach is always very busy it really worths visiting.

Concusion: Which beaches shall i visit ?

In my personal opinion the beach you cannot miss if you visit Greece is Elafonissi Beach on Crete.

• The best beach for families is St. Georges Beach on Naxos.
• The best beach for partying is Paradise Beach on Mykonos.
• The best beach for quiet and solitude is Plaka Beach on Naxos.
• The best beach hotels for an idyllic beach holiday are Ios Palace Hotel & Spa in Ios, Iria Beach Hotel in Naxos, and Branco Mykonos in Mykonos (brand new and right on the beach).
