I went to Italy a few weeks ago and checked out Cinque Terre. The place is unbelievably picturesque and beautiful and I will make a proper post about my journey there soon.
Today’s picture is my first attempt at star trail photography. It was combined of one base layer (quite a bright exposure) plus 75 consecutive images (30s exposures) to create the star trails. Enjoy!

thank you very much, I stood 4 hours at one spot (pretty cold back then) and edited another 5h, so the work had to result in a picture I love. Still not perfect though, next one has to be better ;-)

correct, the other ones were compined as layers in photoshop with the enlighten mode

Wow great setup for the pic, the trails are a bit fragmented (on close inspection) but otherwise amazing!
Astrophotography can be tricky, I've never had much success myself (too much noise on the ISO I had to use for my camera.

thanks for your critique! I know they are a bit fragmented and you know why? Because I simply used my cameras timer to take the pictures automatically. The minimal time between two shots is 1s which is already long enough to get the stars fragmented, as crazy as that sounds. I was really shocked when I first saw that, but it was my first try, next time I'll need to figure out something else...

Yeah may need the manual shutter open close to go longer than 30 amd fix that, I never used that function because I didn't have a remote and touching the camera to open/close the shutter would blur it.

hey, I dont want to make the exposure longer than 30 seconds. I prefer stacking. The problem with my camera is that I havent figured out a way to make it keep taking pictures without breaks of 1s yet....
