Rafflesia - Original Photo

in photography •  7 years ago

Rafflesia is one of the parasitic flower plants. It's very huge. It contains around 28 species. You can find this plant in southeastern Asia. The plant has no stems, leaves or true roots. It's very rare to witness the blooming of the plant because the bud takes from 6 to 9 months to bloom and it will start to decompose 2 to 3 days later. So, if you got the chance to see it, don't miss it!

Here's one of the species. I'm not quite sure which one this is. All I know is to take picture of it. HAHA! I took this with my previous smartphone (Sony Xperia Z2). It was breathtaking, so huge!! People say it's smelly but I didn't smell anything at that moment. We did a little "jungle" trekking, well it wasn't really like a jungle but more like woods. It was in Ranau, Sabah (Malaysia). We had to pay like 10 MYR for the entrance fee, and 5 MYR for taking photos in the woods. Approximately 3 to 4 US dollars.

So, if you come to southeastern Asia, try to look for a Rafflesia plant, you won't regret it! My experience was really fun and exciting! You have to see it for yourself.
