Altyn Peak

Altyn Peak is located in the Rocky Mountains of Montana's Glacier National Park. A small mountain compared to most of its towering neighbors, Altyn stands at a modest 7,947 feet (2,422 m). Widely considered to be one of the easiest ascents in the park, it is an ideal choice for the beginner climber. It should not, however, be entirely ignored by those experienced mountaineers who may view it as too 'tame.' Altyn Peak can be summited via several routes with varying degrees of difficulty, and can also be included as part of longer traverses through the area. It also offers unique and enthralling views of the Many Glacier and Swiftcurrent Valleys. Please enjoy these photographs of my experiences on this lovely mountain!

Standing on the ridge of Altyn Peak, one is treated to an interesting view of its neighbor Mt. Henkel, as well as Natahki Lake below.

From the summit, one can gaze out at the dramatic Many Glacier Valley directly below.

Nothing beats a summit brew :)
