These large and familiar butterflies are common throughout much of the world. Seemingly erratic butterfly flight is powerful and the butterfly knows exactly where it is going. Good confirmation can be had by watching one hover over a flower to feed!

In the centre, below the butterfly is its proboscis, a tube like tongue as long as its legs!

As mentioned before, this butterfly was hiding as it fed from each sub-blossom of the clover blossom.
They are also surprisingly hairy!
