Cemetary sunset and night pics and a little bit of history

Here I bring you images of some pantheons and hypogees that I've take during july and august. This cemetary is from the begining of the XXth century and there are some amazing tombs that deserve a look. You won't regret!

To pay the construction of the cemetary the town hall sold the best pieces of land inside the cemetary to the richest people on the town on those years. They were the indianos. In this photos you see the hypogees of first cathegory that are the most artfully constructed by some of the best catalan modernist architects including Gaudí (yes, the one that started the Sagrada Família in Barcelona).

The indianos where people from the catalan coast (also other parts of Spain) that went to the cololonies beyond the sea to make fortune. Most of them in my town went to Cuba and returned very rich, we call them indianos and they left us a great cemetary and some houses and monuments that I'll show you in another ocasion.

In this photo you can see the Gaudi's hypogee, is the tiny house at the bottom. The forged iron that closes the tomb is really a piece of art! It's one of the closests the chappel that you see in the next photo and that was constructed in 1909.

This tomb is also very nice with a lady that seems being sleep and with amazing dynamocs on hair and dress. Behind it you can see the high pantheon that is dedicated to celeb citizens.

In the tomb of celebs citizens, as curiosity, I'll tell you that there's only one man died at the end of XXth century, Dr. Adler, a dentist who came from germany and made some of the first sea recording of the town. The other town celebs are buried in their own tombs.

On the other side of the same avenue we find this beautiful angel made from stone that is nicely realistic. Behind you can see a pantheon that has some nice statues.

Finally this photo from the side avenue where we find the second cathegory hypogees that are also very interesting, some day I'll do a post about them.
