Cerro Plomo is a very special mountain for the people of Santiago. It is the tallest mountain which is visible from the city. Much like Mt. Rainier is to Seattle. It was also sacred to the Incas, which was evidenced by the discovery of a mummified Incan child near the summit.
This past year I finally made it up this mountain. Nothing technical, but it was one I had wanted for a long time.
