Catching The Lightning

in photography •  7 years ago

Greetings Steemians!

While most people hide in their homes when they see a storm approaching, some of us will grab the equipment and rush out to confront it. Lucky for me I live on a hill above the city and have a very nice view of the bay. Usually when I see a storm I have enough time to settle somewhere, prepare and start shooting. But this one was coming fast. Realy fast...

I was running accross the street and adjusting the tripod on a go. My 50mm lens was on the camera and there was no time to change to 24mm. The camera was attached to the tripod and in the fastest possible way I adjusted the settings and started shooting.

Some lightnings struck left of the frame, some to the right and then finally - BAM! Right where it should. I jumped with my hands in the air in the same way I jump when my football team scores a goal.

Then I realized this was quite close actually, and that I am standing on a hill next to a metal tripod. It was time to go home :)
