Photo Editing

So, for my first actual post, I will use the same photo I used while introducing myself.
The final result looks like this:

I've done this to remind my FB friends to change the time on their clocks when we were switching from DST to regular time in October. Well, the spring is coming and soon we'll switch back to DST again...

Anyhow, to create this, I took three different images.

First, me, myself and I, sitting on my desk. I would later use this to install myself on the clock.

Then I repositioned the camera and shot the scene.

Now the most interesting part. In order to have more realistic result in the end, I used a very specific technique to create a shadow - finger shadowing! :)

Images were imported to PS as layers. Then the time consuming editing started: creating a layer out of myself and resizing it, blending the scene with the finger image and using layer mask to remove the finger and the hand... With the hand out of the way, it was time to install myself on the clock. After this, what remained was to play with contrast, toning, etc...
I like doing this, although it can be quite time consuming so it's not something I do on a regular basis. Probably with more practice I would get faster with it.

Hope you found this useful,
Cheers,
Nino.
