SteemitPhotoChallenge Entry - "The worlds most beautiful train journey" up the mountain in Flåm, Norway - Original Work. (background resolution)

in photography •  7 years ago  (edited)

After taking a ferry from Balestrand to Flåm, we got onto "the worlds most beautiful train journey". This was a short, yet amazing ride up from the fjord, passed amazing waterfalls and mountains, up to the teeny village of Myrdal.

"No other standard-gauge railway in the world is as steep as the Flåm Railway. This 20-km line has a height difference of 866 metres, making an average gradient of 1 in 18. The horseshoe tunnel spiralling in and out of the mountain is a testimony to the most audacious and skilful feat of engineering in the history of Norwegian railways..." Visit Flåm

Beautiful photo. Reminds me of a fun train ride up in Skagway Alaska. But this is looks like even more the adventure.

Oh man alaska is another place I want to visit, its probably like the fjords but times 100 since its such a HUGE place.

you have such beautiful photos of travels! thanks for showing them to us. it's inspiring!

Thank you! It sometimes feels like cheating when its the land itself that is beautiful, and I just have to know how to run the camera properly to capture it :p

Great nature! but all train journeys are also beautiful in Norway. I watched the train journey of Bergen-Oslo on Youtube. It is also great! Share more photos from your train journey! Great shot!

Thanks! We took the train from Flam all the way down to Oslo, so like 5 hours through the countryside. It was great, but that 20km leg up to Myrdal was 10 times better than any other train I've been on :)

Those dark blues and greens work really nicely together. Nice framing from a moving train! I'll get over there some day... some day!! haha

Thanks! yeah I broke the rules of putting anything out of the window, some of the tunnels are only centimeters from the windows so people definitely could lose a limb if not careful. but yeah, I never shoot in daylight without a circular polarizer which helps the colors and gets the skies to pop

Nice photo

Tusen Takk :)
