It is a very curious phenomenon and quite difficult to observe, due to the fact that certain atmospheric conditions are necessary. It occurs when the sun rises or sets on a flat and unobstructed surface, such as the sea, and the sky must be free of mists.
At that moment, it is motivated by the fact that the last rays of the sun are being refracted by the low Earth's atmosphere in a zone visible from our position, causing the effect of their last rays to be of yellowish and greenish tonality. The green ray is then seen for a few seconds, just before the sun sets or is born, becoming an interesting phenomenon to try to photograph.
